New town. New grocery store where I still don't know which aisle has the thing I need (ha. let's be honest, Jason does the grocery shopping). New group of families who have no idea I used to be "the doula from El Paso."

We moved to the Fort Rucker, Enterprise, and Dothan area this month. And although we've been here before (2020-2022), everything still feels so unfamiliar. 

Military spouse life, am I right.

If you're new here (hi, I see you, welcome), here's the short version. I'm a birth doula and lactation counselor. I spent years building a practice in El Paso supporting Fort Bliss families, and now I'm doing the exact same thing here for the Fort Rucker, Enterprise, and Dothan community.

Same mission, new zip code.

Why I keep doing this every time we move

Here's something a lot of people don't realize about military life until you experience it yourself. Every PCS (move) means starting your support system completely from scratch. New OB. New pediatrician on the list. New "does anyone know a good barber" post in the spouse group. And if you're pregnant during a move, that also means finding someone who actually knows how to help you navigate a brand new hospital system while you're already stretched thin.

I've done this move. More than once. I know what it feels like to be lost, far from friends and family, surrounded by a million boxes that will be packed again in 6 months to 2 years). And for soo many of you, you're 30 weeks pregnant in a town where you don't know a single provider's name, let alone whether they'll actually listen to you.

That's exactly why I do what I do, and why it matters so much to me that it's available virtually too. Doesn't matter if you're at Fort Rucker this year and somewhere else entirely next year. Doesn't matter if your OB rotates or your hospital changes. The advocacy skills, the comfort measures, the confidence you build with your partner, that all comes with you.

What this means for you if you're local

If you're pregnant or postpartum in the Fort Rucker, Enterprise, or Dothan area, I'm now offering in-person doula and lactation support here, alongside my virtual services for local and military families anywhere else in the country.

Everything I do works virtually too.
